Single Grave Receives Remains Of 2 Brothers After Double Funeral

The little friends of Donald Whitney, 2 and Paul Whitney, 4, stood in front of the Whitney cottage home in Denise Road this morning, wondering why the boys didn't come out to play.

The children saw a big and shiny black sedan stop in front of their playmate's home, and saw the Whitney boys parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence A. Whitney, drive away.

Donald and Paul are dead. They were; buried this morning in a single grave in Mount Hope Cemetery. Their funeral services were not held at home. Their parents could not afford that.

Fifty friends, and perhaps a few of the curious, crowded the funeral chapel at 137 Cady Street for the children's funeral at 10 this morning. That was where Mr. and Mrs. Whitney were going when the children saw them.

It was Wednesday that Donald and Paul died at Monroe County Hospital. "Intestinal trouble" was the cause, physicians said.

A little before noon today, just before the neighborhood boys and girls were called for dinner, Mr. and Mrs. Whitney came back home. Mrs Whitney was dressed in black. She was crying, the children noticed. Mr. Whitney had his arm around her. He helped her up the steps and into the house, softly closing the door after him.

The playmates of Donald and Paul went home to dinner. "Mrs Whitney was crying", they told their mothers. "Where are Donald and Paul? They didn't come out to play."
