Obituary of George Saddlemire

Altamont, NY -George Saddlemire, 89, of Altamont, NY died at Albany Memorial Hospital on March 23, 2009. He was born on Oct. 10, 1919 the son of Claude and Myrtle (Tousan) Saddlemire in Berne NY. He was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Ina P.Saddlemire in 2003. He is survived by his son Thomas P. and his daughter in law Constance H. of Steamboat Springs, Co, his grandson Craig O. of Lewiston, Me, his brothers, Ogden and John and his sisters Edna Saddlemire, Nellie Agosta and Martha Vass.

Mr. Saddlemire served in the United States Army during WWII in the Philippines. He retired from the the NYS National Guard as a Colonel. Following WWII, he built his home on Lincoln Avenue in the Village and resided there for 55 years. He was well known in the community.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday March 29, 2009 at Fredendall Funeral Home, Altamont NY from 3-6pm. Immediately following there will be a catered reception nearby for all his family and friends to celebrate his life. A private graveside service will be conducted on Monday March 30, 2009 at 10:30am at Woodlawn Cemetery, Berne, NY.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the Good Samaritan Fund care of Altamont Reformed Church, PO Box 671, Altamont, NY 12009.
