He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, brother-in-law and friend. He loved his grandchildren and he allowed thern to get away with just about everything. He was the JEWEL of our family. He loved hunting and fishing with his sons and sons-in-law. He was a Jack of all trades. He was a lifetime member of the St. John Baptist where he served as Chairman of the Deacon Board and helped in many other offices.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Mr. R.C. “Tim” Reed, one sister, Mrs. Helen Mae Reed-Thomas and a special cousin who was like a brother, Mr. Hoover Cheatman.
On February 18, 1961, 58 years ago, he met and married the love of his life, Mrs. Ruby Joyce Harris-Reed. To this union 8 children was born.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Mrs. Ruby J. Reed, 5 daughters, Lorraine Reed-Grigsby (Riley) of Hope Arkansas, Joanne Beavers of Texarkana, Texas, Lynn Y. Reed-Williams (Horace) of Prescott, Arkansas, Kimberly R. Reed-Lydia (Timothy) of Prosper, Texas and Jennifer L. Reed-Lowe (Kenneth) of Hope, Arkansas. 3 sons, Arneal Reed, Jr (Lucinda) of Hope, Arkansas, Kelly E. Reed (Monica) of Garland, Texas and Sergeant First Class Keith D. Reed (Angela) of Fort Hood, Texas. 2 sisters, Velma Jo Reed and Mary D. Willis of Hope, Arkansas. 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 1 brother-in-law, Lester Muldrew of Hope Arkansas, and special neighbor and friend, Mrs. Alaine Haynie & Family. Several nieces, nephew, cousins and friends.
There will be a Home Going Celebration for Peter at 2:30pm, Saturday, June 29, 2019, at Rising Star Baptist Church in Hope, Arkansas. There will be a visitation at Brandon's Mortuary, in Hope on Friday, the 28th from 5:00 - 7:00 pm. His earthly body will be laid to rest at Scott Cemetery, in the Perrytown community of Hope.
