John Sidney Massengill age 76, passed away June 29, 2019 at St. Francis Hospital, Park Avenue in Memphis.

He was born June 9, 1943 in Chester County, and reared in the Enville Community, the son of the late David Washington and Mary Elizabeth Henderson Massengill. He attended Chester County Schools and later Memphis State. He was a member of Faith Baptist in Henderson, TN. John loved music and was an avid piano player over the course of his life. He played for various churches, The Massengill Family Gospel Group as well as a radio program in Savannah, TN. He lived in Memphis for thirty-one years where he was a licensed agent with Crye-Leike Realty and retired from Federal Express. After retirement in 2005, he moved back to Enville.

Mr. Massengill is survived by a son, Randy Massengill (Lisa) of Bartlett and a daughter, Angela Denegri (Mark) of Memphis; five grandchildren; one brother, Troy Massengill of Adamsville; and three sisters, Mary Etta Duke of Morris Chapel, Nannie Nixon of Enville and Joy Grisham of Jackson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a stepdaughter, Leann Knight in 2017; four brothers, Joseph Massengill, Max Massengill, William Massengill and Paul Ray Massengill and three sisters, Mildred Smith, Naomi Grimes and Maerene Barker.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, July 3rd , at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Danny Duke officiating. Burial will follow in Sweetlips Cemete
