Her father's sister, Elizabeth Steele Potts, lived in Chelsea, Oklahoma and Marion had bought some acreage in the Rogers County, Oklahoma area. Allen Rose worked for him on the farm there. Allen and Maud met through this connection. They corresponded for a few years, then married January, 1918. Maud was 27 years old and Allen was 40.
They then lived on a farm near Verdigris, Oklahoma. They had eight children, two dying at birth; Kenneth and Joseph. Maud lived through difficult times. The depression years, caring for a disabled daughter and a large family. It broke her health and she died at age 51.
