Augusta ~ Barbara went to her rest very peacefully on Saturday, June 15, after having a very happy and pain free day. We all have been very blessed by knowing her and her wonderful Christian ways. She was an example to everyone who knew her. She was always thinking of others and sending cards to many, many people letting them know she remembered their birthdays or to let them know she was thinking of them on special holidays.

She was a life long member of Penny Memorial Church and starting singing in the choir when she was just 15 years ago. She participated in the Christmas, “Living Tree” that the church choir performed for many years. She loved to sing and often would sing while at home with friends or while recuperating from a hospital stay. She also would listen to gospel music CDS while going to sleep each night. She loved animals and little children, as they brought a huge smile to her face. Her cat “Harley” would sit with her on the back of her chair as a faithful companion.

She also had some very close, dear friends, Izzie Quimby, Eleanor Humphrey and Patty Blackett who checked in with her on a regular basis and with whom she shared many, many happy times with. They would exchange gifts at Christmas and at each others birthdays, and always looking for a nice restaurant to share a meal together. It’s so nice to have such wonderful friends!

Barbara was never married and did not have any children, but she was a devoted daughter to her Father, Stanley and Mother, Nellie Chase. She was a thoughtful niece and cousin to all her family. She was a kind neighbor and most importantly a true Christian with the promise of the Resurrection.

So, for those of us who remain, relatives and friends, will will have our fond, loving memories of Barbara. She was a sweet, kind lady who was faithful to God and faithful to her family.

A graveside service will be held this Friday, June 28, at 12:30 pm. at Mount Hope Cemetery, (near the Augusta Airport). As you drive under the big metal arch that reads," Mount Hope," it is straight ahead and is the first road on the right where the service will be officiated by Pastor Justin Frank of Penny Memorial Church.

In lieu of flowers, because of Barbara’s love of animals, people are invited to make a donation in her name to the Kennebec Valley Humane Society, 10 Pet Haven Lane, Augusta, Maine 04330. (KHR Funeral Homes)
