Larry Carr Jr. age 42 of Sioux Falls, SD, passed away June 10, 2019. Family will greet friends from 5:00- 7:00 pm Thursday June 20, at Miller Funeral Home 507 S. Main Avenue. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 pm Friday June 21, at Resurrection Worship Center 811 S. Gordon Drive in Sioux Falls.

Larry Eugene Carr Jr. was born on Sunday October 3rd, 1976 to the late Larry Carr Sr. and Cloteal M. Carr. It was a beautiful autumn afternoon when Larry (affectionately known as JR)'s grandparents received the call that Cloteal was going into labor. It wasn't long afterwards when infant JR made his appearance to the world. On Sunday June 9th, Larry was in touch with heaven notifying him that he needed to get his bags packed and to get his boarding pass as he was about to make his final journey. While Larry's facial expressions didn't seem to agree with this invitation, his spirit man was preparing him, and early on Monday June 10th, he caught a glimpse of glory and responded to the call.

Between his early beginnings and now, this is what he accomplished.

JR received his K-12 education from the Des Moines Public School System. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in Des Moines, IA. Larry loved life and enjoyed the many experiences that life had to offer. He enjoyed tinkering with cars. He also enjoyed being in the kitchen converting groceries into delectable delights. As with many of the children of his generation, he enjoyed visiting his Aunt Linda and Uncle Robin in the summers. Little did any of us know that he would settle here and make Sioux Falls his home. But then, we learned the reason why.

JR met Tenessa Davis and Christina Haney on January 5th, 1998 as Christina kept calling him dad and thus their journey began. They fell in love, dated a spell and were joined in holy matrimony on Saturday February 20, 1999 at Resurrection Worship Center, Sioux Falls, SD. Together, they introduced the world to Olivia, Larry III and James. He was a great father to all of his children. JR was a godly man and received a call to the ministry. He preached his first sermon at Rehoboth Ministries on Sunday April 22, 2012 with his family and friends present.

JR held various occupations but it would appear that he really wanted to follow in his father's footsteps and pursue a career in the heating and plumbing profession. With that in mind, he enrolled and was accepted at Southeast Technical Institute and after one year, he successfully completed and received a degree in Plumbing and Mechanical Systems. His final occupation was Director of Maintenance at Sequel Youth Services, and he was cherished by the residents of the facility. One of JR's greatest accomplishments and a role he took very seriously was that of being a grandfather. JR. had three granddaughters, GabrielaAnn, Brooke and Octavia.

Treasured having shared life with him is his wife, Tenessa, daughters Christina Haney and Olivia Carr, sons, Larry E. Carr III and James Carr. Also, he leaves to mourn, his mother, Cloteal M. Carr of Des Moines, IA, sister, Anjanetta Head and Brother, Malcolm Carr, all Des Moines, IA, his maternal grandmother, Willie Mae Head of West Des Moines, IA, maternal grandmother-in-law, Beverly Davis of Sioux Falls, SD, mother-in-law, Teresa Turner, father-in-law, Rev. Joe Turner, father-in-law, of Sioux Falls, SD, Rev. Bobby Smith of Omaha, NE, brother-in-law Michael Davis (Stacy) of Tea, SD, sister-in-law Sarah Bentley (Johnny) Avondale, AZ and sister-in-law Tyra Hayes of Minneapolis, MN, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Preceding him in death was his father, Larry Carr Sr., paternal grandparents, Barbara Carr and King Carr, Sr. Maternal grandfather, Francis G. Head.
