Gregory Scott Payne, Sr., 68, of Marshall died Friday, June 21, 2019 at his residence. He was born December 30, 1950 in Warren County to Varnell Creel Payne, Sr. and Ruth Wilson Payne.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Anne Murray Payne; children Gregory Scott Payne, Jr. and wife, Tammy of Burke, and Shannon Nicole Silvious and husband, Matthew of Florida; his mother, Ruth Wilson Payne of Marshall; three grandchildren, Jordan Ashley Payne, Morgan Elizabeth Payne, and William Matthew Silvious; sister in law, Jean H. Payne of Culpeper; and brother in law, David Murray and wife, Mary Ann of North Carolina.
In addition to his father; Gregory is preceded in death by his siblings; Varnell Creel Payne, Jr. and Annie Mae Payne.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Culpeper National Cemetery (New Section), 502 East Chandler Street, Culpeper. Honors will be provided by VWF Post 2524.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask for donations to be made to a Cancer Society or SPCA of your choosing.
