Mary Jewell (Crowder) Johnson
JANUARY 8, 1924 ~ JUNE 17, 2019 (AGE 95)

Mary "Jewell" Johnson was born 7th out of 10 children. Born in Shamrock, TX on January 8, 1924. Surrounded by her family she entered Heaven’s gates on June 17, 2019. Preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Mary Estella Willis Crowder and her siblings. She married Laverl “Lee” Shumway Johnson on August 20,1942 and will be happy to be reunited with him since he passed away in 1982.

Known for her southern hospitality and never letting anyone leave without some delicious food or at least an oatmeal cookie, she leaves behind her two children Inez Jill Johnson Ewart and Jeffrey Crowder Johnson. She will be missed by her grandchildren, Edward Dale Ewart, Casey Raymond Ewart, Mandy Estella Gonsavles, and Jennifer Lee Johnson. Nana will also always be remembered for her sweet hugs and sharing her hoarded chocolates with her great-grandchildren including Kamerin, Peyton, Caleb, Heaven, Dakota, Adrin, Ember, Orion, Heber, and Jaylee Jewell as well as her great-great-grandchild Egypt.

Jewell was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and was very active and passionate about serving in the community. She served as a member of the Ladies Community Club and GFWC for 25 years, was involved in Extension Club, and Cody Country Cowbelles. She was very talented with finance and worked outside of the home in bookkeeping and was part of the National Bank Association for Women and eventually retired as a Bank Vice President. She enjoyed cooking, crafts, dancing, and will always be remembered for her compassionate and loving nature.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 27th from 6-8 pm at Myers Mortuary, 205 S. 100 E., Brigham City.

A funeral service celebrating her life will be held the following day on Friday, June 28th at 11am at 650 Anderson Drive, Brigham City UT. There will be a viewing preceding the funeral service from 9:30-10:30 am.

Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.
