Shirley Marksbury was born at her grandparents' house in Emerson Missouri, Halloween of 1932. Growing up, Miss Marksbury took part in Girl Scouts and enjoyed roller skating.

Shirley Marksbury and Terry Nichols met at a roller rink. Later, they married and had children. The Nichols family resided in Mendon, Illinois. They worshiped at Mendon Congregational Church. They with their friends were known as the "AMEN Gang."

Pastimes for the Nichols family included boating and skiing on the local river.

After becoming a widow, Mrs. Shirley Nichols began schooling to become a nurse. She began work at Blessing hospital. There, she worked 18 years, assisting in maternal deliveries. She later transferred to working in home health care. She retired from that in 2001.

Mrs. Nichols' second husband was Paul Sill. They had 32 years of marriage together.

In 2005, the entire family gathered to celebrate Easter. Mrs. Sill highly appreciated her family and friends, and let it be known.

Shirley (Marksbury) Sill passed away 6 April 2005. Both parents, Keith and Margaret Marksbury; sister Mrs. Patricia Jeffries; brother William Marksbury, predeceased Mrs. Sills.

Reverend Marcy Heil presided at the funeral, held at Mendon Congregational Church in Mendon, Illinois. Interment took place at New Providence cemetery in Ursa, Illinois.
