Mr. George Andrew Malnar Sr., age 78 of Tickfaw, Louisiana, passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2019, at North Oaks Medical Center.
He was born on Wednesday, July 17, 1940, in Tickfaw, Louisiana, the son of the late Anthony "Tony" and Grace "Gene" Womack Malnar.
Mr. Malnar owned and operated Malnar Tire Mart for over 30 years. He was in the United States Air National Guard, Louisiana Unit # 236, for 32 years when he retired with the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. He was a member of Our Lady of Pompeii Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus in Tickfaw. He had a passion for flying and had his personal pilots license. Mr. Malnar was a hard working and dedicated man who loved his family and his community. He will be greatly missed.
George is survived by his wife of 56 years, JoAnn Mulkey Malnar; son, George Andrew Malnar Jr.; daughters & sons-in-law, April M. and Jeffrey Holmes, Alissa M. and Todd Vilardo, Alenda Malnar, Ashley Malnar and Paul Kohles Jr.; 8 grandchildren, Schoen, Jessica, Aaron, Trent, Gracie, Faith, Jet and Amara; and his brother & sister-in-law, Joseph "Bill" and Tina Malnar; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Malnar and his sister, Pauline Malnar.
Family and friends will be received at Our Lady of Pompeii Catholic Church, Tickfaw, Louisiana, on Saturday, June 22, 2019 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Pompeii, on Saturday at 11:00 am, with Fr. Michael Galea officiating.
Interment will follow in the Tickfaw Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum in Tickfaw, Louisiana.
