AMELIA P. AHRENS

Mrs. Amelia Ahrens, 78, of 2114 Washington St., Two Rivers, widow of one of the original rural mail carriers out of the Two Rivers Post Office and a musician, died at Two Rivers Municipal Hospital late Tuesday afternoon where she had been a patient for 12 days.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Emanuel Evangelical United Brethren Church, Two Rivers, the Rev. M.J. Roehrdanz officiating. Burial will be in Forest View Cemetery.

Mrs. Ahrens, nee Amelia Cammers, was born June 6, 1881, in the Town of Two Rivers, daughter of the late Nicholas and Amelia Fischer Cammers, among the earlier residents of the township. Attending rural schools, she was married to Charles Ahrens at Two Rivers Sept. 14, 1902. After their marriage the couple settled in a home at the north outskirts of Two Rivers' east side and a number of years ago the family moved to a farm near Shoto where Mr. Ahrens died May 29, 1947. A year later she moved to Two Rivers where she had resided since. She was a member of Emanuel Church and the Golden Age Club.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Ted Dohr and Mrs. Charles Spring of Two Rivers and Mrs. Arthur B. Curtis of Washington, D.C.; two sons, Lincoln, with the Merchant Marine on the Atlantic, and Charles Jr., of Seattle, Wash.; three sisters, Mrs. John Ahrens of Mishicot, Mrs. Fred Estes of Lynwood, Calif., and Mrs. Claude Short of California; a brother, Fred Commers of Olathe, Colo.; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Friends may call at Klein & Stangel Inc., Funeral Home, Two Rivers, after 7 o'clock this Wednesday evening until 10:30 a.m. Friday when the casket will be taken to the church where the body will lie in state until the time of service.
