"Elbert Dean Bratcher, 87 of Kansas City passed away Nov. 20, 2017. Elbert was born Aug. 21, 1930, in Kingston, MO, to the late George and Gertrude Bratcher. He moved to Kansas City in 1950. He was a Firefighter (Local 42) for the Kansas City, MO, fire department for 30 years. Elbert served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a lifetime member of the VFW post 5606, and a member of the Avondale United Methodist Church.

Elbert was preceded in death by his wife, Della Vionne in 2013. He is survived by his two sons, George (Susan) and Donald; one grandchild; thirteen foreign exchange student grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held Nov. 29 from 6-8pm at White Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Nov. 30 at 11:00 am at Avondale United Methodist Church with family receiving guests one hour prior. Burial will follow services at Rose Hill Cemetery in Breckenridge, MO. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the KC Fire Brigade." The Kansas City Star, November 22, 2017
