Roy W. Abbott of Silver Springs, New York entereed into eternal rest on June 14, 2019, at Suzanne's Comfort Care Home in Perry.
He was born on July 27, 1948, in Niagara Falls, New York, son of the late Royal and Frances Gavigan Abbott. Roy was employed for forty-two years at Morton Salt Company in Silver Springs, retiring as a loader inspector in 2012. Roy was a proud Vietnam veteran having served in the US Army.
Roy enjoyed hunting and playing cards with family and friends. He was a dedicated Buffalo Bills fan and NASCAR fan. He enjoyed camping and spending winters in Florida and Roy loved spending time with his family.
Roy is survived by his wife of forty-eight years, Susan Hardy Abbott whom he married in November 1970; his children, Cheryl (Kirk) Schroeder of Castile, Rebecca (Raymond) Hicks of Perry, Jeffrey (Sara Nieman) Abbott of Perry; grandchildren, Alyssa Abbott, Hunter Schroeder, Darren Abbott, Sage Schroeder, Stacy (Jeremiah) Norcross; great-grandchild, Francheskah; his siblings, Steven (Deborah) Abbott, Bruce (Karyn) Abbott, Christopher Abbott, John Abbott, Robert (Tami) Abbott, Cecilia Pai, Julia (Robert) Dennis; several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late James Abbott and William Abbott and grandfather of the late Ethan M. Abbott.
Friends may call on Tuesday, June 25, from 5 – 8 PM, at the Robinson and Hackemer Funeral Home, Warsaw. A Veteran's Service will be held immediately following visitation at 8 PM, followed by Roy's Memorial Service. Private burial on Wednesday will be held at the Saint Mary's Cemetery, Silver Springs.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Roy to Suzanne's Comfort Care 167 North Main Street Perry, New York 14530.
