Mrs. Lucinda "Cindy" Birdine-Hankins was born in Marion, Alabama to the late Ora Dee Smelley on July 4,1949. She transitioned from this earthly life to eternal life in the loving care of her daughter, Raquel in LaVergne, Tennessee on June 5, 2019.

Cindy was raised up in the admonition of the Lord in Marion, Alabama by her grandparents, Jimmy and Lucinda Underwood. After graduating from Lincoln High School in 1967 she moved to Nashville, Tennessee with her mother, Ora Dee. She later got married and raised her three children.

Cindy was a praying mother who loved the Lord and was a devoted member of Family of Faith Church in Nashville, Tennessee for fifteen years. She loved when the praise team sung "Freedom" by Eddie James. Another song she loved was "I am Redeemed" by Big Daddy Weave. Cindy was a dedicated employee of Red Lobster and retired after 38 years of service.

Cindy was preceded in death by her first husband, Frank D. Birdine Jr.; her siblings, Leola Smelley, Leon Smelley and Jeremiah Smelley. She leaves to cherish her memory, husband, Birdel Hankins; her children, Bryan Birdine, Raquel (Ronald) Gunn, Frankie Keith (Lo'Real) Birdine and Birdie Hobson; her brother, Joseph Smelley; nine grandchildren, Toreze, Stephon, Kiara, Lucinda "Pretty", Nicole, Briana, Kiyon, Ta'Ziyaha and Brok'Lyn; great-grandchildren, Octavia Birdine and six others; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
