On June 13, 2019, Eileen West Austin, loving mother of four children, passed away at home, at age 86.
Eileen was born on April 26, 1933 at Greenpoint Hospital in Brooklyn, New York to Frederick and Tillie (Guadagni) West. She married Gaskill W. Austin on September 19,1953 . They raised four children, Frederick, Janelle, Kathleen and Christine.
Eileen had a passion for life. She never met a stranger. Her daughter always told people she could make friends with a rock and spend an hour talking to them. She had several special people in her life that looked up to her as a second mother, including, Charlene Schultz, Barbara Gibbs, Trudi Barry, Ann Workman, Joe Pierce, Roberta Gibbs and Erren and Duwayne Gibbs. She had many special friends that remained in touch with her until her passing and many caring Home Health and Hospice workers and volunteers. She was known for her quick wit and infectious smile. She had a passion for all things beachy and loved to play Left, Right, Center. She was a member of the International Police Association and the Outer Banks Repeater Association.
Eileen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gaskill Austin and her sister Ann Sinram.
She is survived by her four children, Frederick (Deborah) Greenville, NC, Janelle (Charles) Manns Harbor, NC, Kathleen (Kenneth) Greenville, NC and Christine (Jeffery) Columbia, NC, her brother Fredric (Mickey) Merrick, NY, grandchildren Douglas Austin (Maegan) St. Petersburg, FL, John Rutter (Cheryl) Wilmington, NC, Jamie Rutter (Amanda) Dahalonega, GA, Aaron Hooper, Greenville, NC, Adrian Reynolds (Gillian) Nags Head, NC, Laurette Reynolds Powell (Brent) South Mills, NC, Amanda Adkins (Walter) Leland, NC, Stasia Austin, Greenville, NC and Cody Parrish, Greenville, NC, thirteen great grandchildren, Alexus, Cameron, Blake, Blayden, Dyelan, Ayden, John Paul, Grayden, Ariana, Sudie, Avery, Nola and Kayleigh, God children Gloria Cozzi, Edward Sinram and Christopher Barry, an Aunt, Chickie Guadagni, sisters in laws Barbara Duvall (Robert), Kill Devil Hills, NC and Janelle Perry, Kitty Hawk. A celebration of life will be held on June 30th, 2019 at the Lost Colony SoundStage at 4 o’clock p.m. Flowers or donations may be sent to her residence, 6393 US Hwy 64, Manns Harbor, NC. There will be a private interment at a later date with Gaskill in Austin Cemetery in Kitty Hawk, NC.
