Loyce Braswell Miles, 53, saw her savior, Jesus Christ, face-to-face Saturday, December 25, 2010. She passed away at Central Mississippi Medical Center. Her wishes were for her body to be donated to UMC for research. A memorial service will be held at the chapel (old sanctuary) at First Baptist Church, Clinton, MS., on Monday, December 27, 2010 at 2:00 pm. Visitation will begin 1 hour preceding the service.

Loyce graduated from Bayou Academy in Boyle, MA. She earned a Bachelors and Masters degree at Delta State University. She then went on to earn her PhD in History from Mississippi State University. She was an educator of 30 years. Her most recent position was at Hinds Community College in Raymond as a history instructor. Besides her family, Loyce's greatest joy in life was teaching. She was a member of First Baptist Church Clinton. She had a heart for missions since childhood and enjoyed working with Acteens and Women on Mission.

She is preceded in death by her father, Ralph Braswell.

Loyce is survived by her husband of 31 years, Walter Hayes Miles; daughter, Jennifer Weston and son-in-law, Matt Weston; son, Beau Miles and daughter-in-law, Amy Lynn Miles; two grandchildren; mother, Glenda Braswell; brothers, Wayne Braswell (Carla), Larry Braswell (Alicia) and numerous nieces and nephews.
