*Charles A. "Charlie" Schafer, Sr.passed away early
Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at age 86.

He was born Friday, July 15, 1932 in Monticello, Indiana.
Charlie had lived in the Monticello area most all his life. Charlie was a
United States Army Veteran, having served in both the Korean and the
Vietnam Wars. He had served on the Monticello Veterans Honor Guard of
Monticello, loved God and was a member of the former Calvary Baptist Church
of Monticello, driving the church bus to pick up children for services. He
was also a member of American Legion Post #81 of Monticello.
He owned and operated the former Schafer Home Improvements of Monticello
and drove a school bus for the North White School Corporation. Charlie
enjoyed going to the USA Restaurant of Monticello and model trains.
Charlie was preceded by his wife, Juanita in 1990.
He is survived by three children: Diane (husband Chris) Walters, Charles
"Sonny" (wife Shelia Cochran) Schafer, Jr., and Pam (husband Tim) Sullivan;
two grandchildren, Woody (wife Tina) Walters and Tammie (husband Mike)
Hutchinson; five great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; and
several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Monday, June 17th at 3pm with
visitation from 1-3pm at Miller - Roscka Funeral Home

with Pastor Larry Walker of New Beginning Baptist Church officiating.
Burial will take place with full Military Honors by the Monticello Veterans
Honor Guard of Monticello, Indiana, at the I.O.O.F. Riverview Cemetery in
rural Monticello, Indiana. Memorials may be given to the Indiana Veterans’
Home.
