Graveside services for John Edwin "Ted" Davant were held today at 2 p. m. at the Hawley Cemetery with the Rev. Milton McWilliams officiating.

Mr. Davant died Sept. 23, 1984, at his home in Blessing. He was born Sept. 8, 1911, in San Antonio. A lifelong resident of Matagorda County, Davant was a retired attorney, a former county attorney for Matagorda County, a member of the State Bar of Texas, the Bay City Gun Club, the Bay City Country Club and the St. Mark's Episcopal Church of Bay City.

Survivors include: his wife, Kathryn Cornelius Davant of Blessing; four daughters, Carolyn Fricke of Port Lavaca, Cornelia Atwood of Palacios, Kathryn Higgins of Victoria and Eugenia Wilson of Sulphur, La.; two sons, Dr. James E. Davant of Blessing and William L. Davant of Victoria; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Kenneth Hite, Harold Martin. L. M. Pierce, Wayne Wehmeyer, John Wilson and Michael Fricke. Honorary pallbearers were Frank Lewis, Sr., Henry Mann, Gene Migura, W. F. Fly, L. L. Chiles, Jimmy Stewart, Harry Snowdy, Joe Entzminger and members of the Bay City Gun Club.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Taylor Brothers Funeral Home in Bay City.
