Mrs. Irene Moore Chrisawn, age 91, of Old Fort, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, June 7, 2019 following a short period of declining health.
She was born in Old Fort on July 24, 1927 to the late William Alonzo Moore and Cora Melton Moore.
Irene was retired from Old Fort Finishing. A long-time member of Old Fort Free Will Baptist Church, she also loved going to gospel music singings. Working in her yard and tending to her flowers brought her much pleasure. Her family meant everything to her and she loved them very much.
Her husband of 40 years, Herman Chrisawn, and a grandson, Robbie Cable, preceded her in death.
Surviving are two children, Marilyn Diane Medford and husband Billy of Old Fort and Donnie Gerald Chrisawn of the home; a brother, Lester Moore and wife Bernice of Old Fort; two sisters, Geneva Johnson and Ada Frady, both of Old Fort; two grandchildren, Dana Autrey and husband Randy and David Cable and wife Amanda; three great-grandchildren, Kelssie, Hannah and Andrew; two great-great-grandchildren, Noah and Reagan; and her special caregiver, Talina Holloway.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 10, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Westmoreland Funeral Service in Old Fort with Rev. Lattie Slagle and Rev. Larry Anderson officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Green Knob Cemetery where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved Herman.
