Funeral services will be held January 29, at Kreidler Funeral Home in McAllen. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Tama, Iowa, at a later date.
Memorials may be made to Alamo Palms Scholarship Fund, Alamo, Texas or the Living Faith Methodist Church, Tama, Iowa, in her memory. Kreidler Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Joan Ruth Fisher was born November 22, 1931, in Bennett, Iowa, a twin to her sister Janet, the daughter of James and Elsie (Schneckloth) Small. She was raised in Bennett and graduated from Bennett High School in 1949. She married Leland Fisher on January 24, 1954, in the Little Brown Church at Nashua, Iowa. They were parents of two sons and spent all their working years in Tama, until they moved to Alamo in 1999. Joan loved to dance and had a passion for flowers.
Surviving are her husband, Leland; two sons, Lon (Raylene) Fisher of Brooklyn, IN, and Dan Fisher of Toledo, IA; two grandsons, Chad (Amy) Fisher of Palo, IA, and Sgt. Adam Fisher, serving with the Marines and stationed in California; one step-granddaughter, Leeja Kubik of Ankeny, IA; one step-grandson, Logan Kubik; and two sisters, Janet Small of Davenport, IA, and Esther Puls of Tipton, IA.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Phyllis Ede and Elda Norton.
