Lula Elizabeth Buckner Hardin, 96 of The Maples in Bluefield passed peacefully Monday morning, January 22, 2018. She was retired from Tultex Corporation in Bastian VA.

Born June 27, 1921 in Franklin County VA, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Henry Sloane (1889-1953) & Lydia Margret Green-Sloane (1890-1976). In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, James Motendee Buckner, Sr. (Deceased) & George Colvin Hardin (1920-1998) whom she married in 1990; sons, Herman Buckner (Deceased) and Daniel Buckner (Deceased); son-in-law, Richard Myers (Deceased); sisters, Susie Ann Sloane-Beckner-Matheny (1923-2015) and Ida Mae Sloane-Yopp (1915-1991); and brothers William Sloane (Deceased), Harry Lewis Sloane (1918-1991), & John Robert Sloane (1919-1992).

She is survived by daughters Brenda Buckner-Myers & Belinda Buckner-Dillow, both of Princeton; sons and daughters-in-law, James Motendee Buckner Jr. & wife Rita Buckner of Bland VA, Robert Buckner & wife Geraldine Buckner of Bluefield, Earl Thomas Buckner & wife Kathy Buckner of Lexington NC, and Alton Buckner of Garden City MI; eighteen grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Wednesday January 24, 2018 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor Mark Pennington officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton.
