Prudence (Williams) Bixby is the mother of Lucy (Halsey) Sholes and Eunice (Halsey) Allyn. All of their names appear on Capt. Stanton Sholes' large monument in Green Lawn Cemetery. Lucy was Stanton's second wife, married in 1829 in Lorain County, Ohio.

Only daughter of Richard and Eunice Williams, of New London, CT. ^1 First husband's name is believed to be Theophilus Halsey, although no marriage record has been located. Halsey was Richard Williams' (Prudence's father) nearest neighbor on the 1800 US Census. He was also captured in Columbia County, NY, that year, living near Nathan Halsey, who may have been his brother. In 1810, Theophilus was again enumerated in Chatham, Columbia County, NY, this time living with a wife and five young daughters. Later census forms noted that Prudence (Williams) Halsey's younger daughters were born in New York. It appears Theophilus Halsey died between 1810 and 1820.

After his death, Prudence and her daughters may have briefly returned to Connecticut before following her brothers Barnabus and Paul Williams to the Akron, Ohio, area. Prudence remarried to Benjamin Bixby on Sept. 28, 1821 in Portage County, OH.

Green Lawn Cemetery records indicate Prudence was moved from the North graveyard on an unknown date.
