John Edwin Grissom
March 4, 1934- June 5, 2019
Mr. John Edwin Grissom, age 85, died Wednesday, June 5, 2019, at his
residence after declining health.
A native of Warren County, TN., and resident of the Midway Community, he
was born March 4, 1934, he served in the Army National Guard for 16 years,
was a life-long self-employed farmer and nurseryman, and worked as a lineman with Caney Fork Electric for 24 years. Mr. Grissom also served on the Board of Directors of Warren Farmers Cooperative and Farm Bureau, was a County Commissioner for 12 years, an active member of the Midway Community Improvement Club for many years and was a member of the Church of Christ at Dibrell.
He was the son of the late John Curl and Kathrynn Grissom, and was also
preceded in death by sisters and brothers-in-law, Helen and Leonard Guthrie
and Curlene and Howard Locke, and brother-in-law, Thomas Hall.
Edwin married Betty Lowe Grissom on April 26, 1958 who survives. Other
survivors include his son, Robert Bret Grissom of the Midway Community,
daughter and son-in-law, Edwina Sue and Bobby Luna of Gallatin, TN., three
granddaughters, Shelby Grae, Jenna Rae, and Katie Sue Luna all of Gallatin,
sister Linda Hall of Hermitage, TN., brother and sister-in-law, Joe Lynn and Ann Grissom of McMinnville, TN.; and a host of friends,nieces,and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 8, 2019, in the McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel with Bill Walkup and Bobby Luna officiating. Interment followed in Webb Cemetery at Bluff Springs. Military grave rites were administered by VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173.
