Bartholomew Stearns and Mary (Raymond) Stearns established the homestead in Winchendon, Worcester County, Massachusetts, USA on a grant given to John Stearns prior to 1758 for services in the French War of 1690.
This property situated south of the river was bisected by a road running from the Burying Ground north toward Rindge, Cheshire County, New Hampshire, USA. The road was accepted by the Town in 1762 and is now called Hall’s Road. The County Road from Ashburnham, Worcester County, Massachusetts, USA; to Fitzwilliam, Cheshire County, New Hampshire, USA; also bisected the property, was accepted in 1784 and is now named Ash Street. The house which still stands was built at the corner of Hall Street and Ash Street.

Bartholomew Stearns and Mary (Raymond) Stearns were buried in Old Centre Cemetery.
