Karen West, 75, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge.

Service will be 10:30 AM on Saturday, June 8, 2019, at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel with Pastor Dan Prochaska officiating. Burial will be in the Lytton Cemetery. A time of gathering for family and friends will be on Friday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Fort Dodge.

Karen is survived by her daughter, Kris Olson of Fort Dodge and her daughter-in-law, Joy (Mike) Thoma of Clare; 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, LaDaun Wilkes and two brothers-in-law, Gene Dankbar and Garland Casey; and her aunt, Lora Hendrickson. She is preceded in death by her parents, her son, Todd in 1998, 3 adult sisters Ruth Dankbar, Marlene Anderson, Kathy Casey, and 3 infant siblings.

Karen Ann Boyd, the daughter of Gaylord and Leona (Boom) Boyd, was born September 9, 1943, near Lytton, Iowa. She was a member of the 1961 graduating class of the Lytton High School. Karen attended Tobin Business College before she married Ed West on August 4, 1963. The couple later divorced. She worked various jobs before she began working at Trinity Regional Hospital in the Medical Records Department. Karen worked at Trinity Regional Hospital for 23 years before she retired in 2009. She was a member of a card club and a luncheon group. Karen also enjoyed her day time TV shows.
