PLANO - Verda Coleman Jones, 79, former Thomas resident, died Sunday, March 18, 1984, at her home in Plano, of an apparent heart attack.
She was born December 31, 1904 to Alexander Smith and Anna Ostberg Coleman in Teasdale, Utah. The family moved in 1905 to Thomas where they operated the first store in the area. She attended schools in Thomas, Plano, and Edmunds, and furthered her education at Ricks College in Rexburg, and beauty school in Logan, Utah.
She married Warren Jones, November 3, 1954 in San Francisco and they lived for several years in Malad where she worked as a beautician. Following her husband's death she moved to Plano.
Mrs. Jones was a member of the LDS Church. She enjoyed her role as a homemaker.
She is survived by two brothers, Alex O. of Jerome and Clarence G. of Idaho Falls; and two sisters, Laura C. Parkinson of St. Anthony and Beulah C. Steel of Plano.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Plano LDS Church and burial was in the Plano Cemetery under the direction of Flamm Funeral Home of Rexburg.
