Double Stone

Robert Jeff Ferguson, 76, a resident of Hamilton County since 1888, passed away Sunday. Born in Falls County February 5, 1878, the son of the late William H. and Sally Fergusson, he lacked only a few days being 76 years of age. His family came to this county 66 years ago. Here he grew up and on November 9, 1898, he was married to Miss Ida Rosanna [sic-Rose Anna] Grisham, who passed away July 14, 1948. They had three children, a son and two daughters. One daughter died in infancy.

Mr. Fergusson was well liked and had a reputation as a man of many good deeds. He had been a member of the Blue Ridge Church since 1906.

Survivors include his son, Claude Fergusson of Hamilton; a daughter, Mrs. Verne Crain of the Blue Ridge community; and a sister, three granddaughters, and three great-grandsons, also survive.

Funeral services were held at the Blue Ridge Baptist Church Monday at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Billy Berry of Waco and Rev. E. C. Carter, pastor of the First Methodist Church, Hamilton, officiating. The hymns for the service were by the Hamilton Quartet including B. D. Corrigan, Luke McGlothlin, John Jordan, and Dr. A. J. Koen with Mrs. Jordan as accompanist. Pallbearers were Bob Miller, Tom Offett, Lawrence Adams, Clyde Gardner, Preston O'Bannon, and Jack Stribling. Interment was in the Blue Ridge Cemetery with the Bob Riley Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Out-of-town relatives attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Billy Harold Barkley, Jr., and sons and Mr. and Mrs. Wallace N. Duncan [sic-Dunson] of Midland; Miss Elreeta Ann Crain of Belton; Mr. and Mrs. Lenard Fergusson and Mr. and Mrs. DuWayne Fergusson and daughter of Dallas; Mr. Luther Fergusson of Austin and J. C. of Port Arthur; Mrs. Maggie Moore and Auford, and Mrs. Earl Cox of Beaumont; Mrs. May Grisham of Quanah; Mrs. Byrdie Coston of Wichita Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Neal Cox and daughter of Acres; Mrs. Clyde Roberts of Port Arthur; Mrs. Ima Cook of Frederick, Oklahoma; Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Adcock of Hico; Mr. and Mrs. Rance Adcock and Mrs. Herbert Adcock and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Adcock, all of Gustine, and Sam Williams, Fort Worth.
