Philip Huff was born in about 1770-1772, likely but not certainly in Loudoun County, Virginia. On 1 Feb 1796, a license was issued to marry Jemima "Mima" Turman in what was then Jefferson County, Tennessee. There was no license return, so no proof that the marriage actually occurred, or when exactly it occurred. It likely did occur, since one Jemima Huff appeared as Head of Household in the 1820 US Census in Paoli in what was then Cumberland County, Kentucky (an area that later was part of Albany, Clinton County, Kentucky).

There appears to have been a divorce in 1819 (please verify details before using) and a number of legal actions, some involving Jemina and also some including Philip's brothers, that appear in the Index to Cumberland County, Kentucky, Circuit Court. This is an area for further detail to be gleaned.

Philip and Jemima have been said to have had some twelve children. Only one has been very well identified by his death or cemetery record: Jefferson Huff, 7 Jan 1810 Jefferson County, Tennessee - 27 Aug 1881 Tooele, Tooele County, Utah. Information on other children would be most appreciated!
