Daniel ‘Dan’ Turner, age 66 of rural Boone, died May 24, 2019 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.
Daniel Robert Turner, was born in Boone, Iowa on May 24, 1953, the son of Robert and Mary (Hayes) Turner.
Dan graduated from Roland-Story High School in Story City, Iowa in 1971. On December 7, 1973, Dan married Carmen Johnson at the Central Christian Church in Boone.
Dan grain farmed in Harrison Township in Boone County and in earlier years, he also raised cattle and pigs.
Dan enjoyed keeping himself busy and tinkering around the farm. He raised a large vegetable garden and enjoyed canning, making salsa and tomato juice, and he shared his produce with friends and neighbors. Dan also enjoyed attending farm sales and reading farm related magazines.
Dan loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a kid at heart and liked to spoil his grandkids.
He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Turner.
Dan is survived by his wife, a son, a daughter, son-in-law and daughter-in-law, his mother, a brother, two sisters, five grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be Wednesday, May 29, 2019, at 11:00 a.m., at the Central Christian Church with Pastor Mike Carlson officiating. Burial will be in the Mackey Cemetery in Mackey, at a later date.
Friends may call at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall, on Tuesday from 3 until 7 p.m. where the family will be present from 5 until 7 p.m.
On Wednesday morning, friends may call at the Church from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
