OBITUARY, Crippin Funeral Home:

George Stephen Unrein went to be with Our Heavenly Father on May 20, 2019. He was surrounded by his loving family in the comfort of his home. While he knew it was time to leave this mortal life he went reluctantly.

George grew up in Montrose where he went to school, graduating from Montrose High School in 1964. Upon graduation he went to work in construction. In 1966 he married Charlene Akin and they moved to California, where they worked and started their family.

They returned to the beauty of Colorado in 1969, where their hearts felt at home. George went to work for Public Service Company of Colorado and retired after thirty-two years. His job took him to several places in the state including Durango, Colorado.

His love of the outdoors was his passion and provided him with the thrill of hunting and fishing in all of his favorite spots. He always enjoyed doing these things with his family and friends.

George is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Charlene Unrein, one daughter Chaundra Unrein-Hershey and husband Mike, step-son John Akin and wife Teala, four grandchildren Elizabeth Belden, Amanda Akin, Shannon Demientieff, Serena Unrien and four great-grandchildren Scarlett Talcott, Violett Belden, Kourtney Demientieff and Divany Demientieff.

He was preceded in death by his son Steven Unrein, his parents Albert and Virginia Unrein and two brothers Larry and Lester Unrein.
