EDWARD LISTON
LIMA — Edward (Red) Liston was born May 27, 1920 in Marion, IN to the union of Ruth Hawkins and Commie Liston, both preceded him in death. On August 12, 1939 he married Mildred Naomi Webb who preceded him in death.
He is survived by their five children: Carole (Truman deceased) Penn, Barbara (Milton) Liston-DeGroat, Michael Liston, Rebecca Liston and Jacqueline (Joseph) Somerville. Other survivors include his sister Marilyn Stewart, 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Lester Liston and two grandsons Bryan Butler and Rashad Liston.
Mr. Liston retired as the Deputy Director Public Works Department of the City of Lima in 1983. He was a past Master of Samuel W. Clark Lodge 67 where he also held a 33rd degree.
Edward Liston was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII serving in Germany and France. He was a member of the Ohio Horseman Association and an active member of Second Baptist Church.
Edward Liston departed on August 16, 2015 surrounded by his family in Las Vegas.
His home going celebration will be held on August 31, 2015 at Second Baptist Church at 11:00 am. Dr. Dennis Ward will officiate; internment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Western Ohio. www.nkfwo.org.
Friends may call 6 pm to 8 pm on Saturday, August 29 and 2 pm to 4 pm on Sunday, August 30 at Siferd-Orians Funeral Home.
