ESTHER KAPPELMAN Esther J. Kappelman, age 92, of Manitowoc, died Tuesday, July 25, 2006, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 29, 2006, at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2426 N. Rapids Road, Manitowoc. The Rev. Thomas Pankow will officiate with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Esther was born Oct. 5, 1913, in the town of Manitowoc Rapids, daughter of the late Ernst and Sophia Sanderson Bierman. She married Theodore Kappelman on June 15, 1940, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. Theodore preceded her in death on Dec. 12, 1992. She was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church since 1941. Survivors include two nieces and their families: LaVerne (Boots) Brandt, Cleveland; Carol (Phillip) Miller, San Bernardino, Calif.; four nephews and their families: Donald Ahrens, Manitowoc; Dr. Richard (Joan) Ahrens, Berwyn Heights, Md.; Robert (Jan) Artis, Springfield, Mo.; William (Pat) Artis, Atlanta, Ga.; other relatives and friends also survive. Esther was preceded in death by her husband: Theodore; a sister: Gladys Ahrens; two brothers: Roland Bierman and Lynn Bierman; and two nephews: Roger Bierman and Ronald Bierman. Relatives and friends may call on Saturday at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Memorials would be appreciated to Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church or Manitowoc Lutheran High School.
