Marvin was born July 25, 1928, in Ames to Marshall Lee and Gertrude Mae (Foster) Davis. He graduated from Ames High School in 1946. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1946-48. He was a lifelong Ames resident.
He retired in 1990, after 20 years as manager of the Ames City Employees Credit Union. He was a member of Moose Lodge 520 and American Legion Post No. 37, both of Ames.
He is survived by two daughters, Vicki (Denny) Christianson of Ames and Sheryl Davis of Ames; two sons, Mark ( Kelly) Davis of Minneapolis and Brian Davis of West Des Moines; five grandchildren, Carrie, Michael, Andrew, Emma and Chelsea; and two sisters, Marlene (John) Malloy of Troy, Mich. and Ruth Davis of Denver, Colo.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Dick.
