Robert was born on October 23, 1943 in Liscomb, Iowa, he enjoyed growing up in the community. After graduation from high school he started a trucking company and put in countless miles in his long career.
On January 8, 1966, Robert married Hyla Hemmen in Bethel, Missouri. The couple lived in Webster City, Clarion, Garwin, and moved to Marshalltown in 1978. Robert was a family man and loved spending time with them any chance that he had. He had a love for working on cars and he would always have a different car every three months. He had a kind spirit and would go out of his way to help anyone in need. Robert will be missed by anyone who had the opportunity to have known him.
Surviving are his children Laura Gale and Teresa (Steve) Houser; grandchildren, Trevor Andrews, Ashley Houser, Theron Gale, Josie Houser, Sydni Gale, Tausha Hollingshead, Jen Adolph, David Schlesselman, and Robert Schlesselman; sister-in-law Carla (Doug) Youngdale; and brother-in-law Harley Hemmen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 44 years, Hyla, his son Rodney and nephew Troy Youngdale.
