She was an excellent cook, and homemade chicken/dumplings as well as "grandmother's vegetable soup" were favorites of friends and family. Sarah taught her children by example of loving others and taking food to the needy or sick in the community. She was a faithful member of Ellistown Baptist Church, driving herself to Sunday morning service until failing health of the past year. She loved and was loved by everyone who knew her, especially members of her Sunday School Class.

Survivors include three children: Jimmy Grubbs (Carolyn) of Ellistown; Rose Vinson (Tommy) of Collierville, TN; Barbara Hitt (Alan) of Branyan Community.
