Johnny Wayne Cook, age 72, of Polkville, NC passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2019, at Hospice at Wendover.

Born August 2, 1946, in Cleveland County, NC; son of the late Russell Edward Cook (1923–1980) and Dessie Bryte Beaver Cook (1925–2010); husband of the late Patricia Elaine Black Cook (1950–2009).

Retired from Bernhardt and Doran Mills; served in the US Army in Germany; was a member of Big Springs Baptist Church, Polkville Ruritan Club, and American Legion in Lawndale.

Survivors include his daughters, Robyn Schoolcraft (Rick) and Heather Cook; brother, Dicky Cook (Susan); brother-in-law, Gene Byrd; grandson, Zack Kloosterman; niece, Brandi Turner (Daniel); and two great nieces, Reagan and Kendyl Turner.

Also preceded in death by an infant daughter; brother, Mitchell Robin Cook (1954–1975); and sister, Judy Cook Byrd.

Visitation was held from 6:00 - 8:00 pm, Thursday, at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home.

The funeral service was held at 3:00 pm, Friday, at Polkville Baptist Church with Revs. Will Davis and Paul Scott officiating

Burial will follow in Polkville Baptist Church Cemetery.
