Mr. Hardee was born in Camilla, Ga., and moved to Gainesville in 1955.
He was a manager at Sunnyland Foods Packing Plant until 1980.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving on the USS Markab.
He was a founding member of the Gainesville Off-Shore Fishing Club and a former member of the Florida Packers Association. He enjoyed fishing and making fishing tackle. He also loved reading as well as feeding and watching his birds and squirrels.
He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Hardee.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Helen Hardee of Gainesville; daughters Margaret Moratto of Walterboro, S.C., and Susan Grooms of Gainesville; sisters Mary Nicholson of Tallahassee and Ruth Parker of Lake City; a brother, George Hardee of Loften, La.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
