Elizabeth McInnis Browne

Virginia Beach - Betsy Browne died on August 28, 2018, at her home. She was born in Washington, D.C., on April 17, 1937. She graduated from The Madeira School in McLean, Virginia, and attended Mount Vernon Junior College and the University of Colorado. She received two degrees from the University of Maryland.

She married Randolph Maury Browne, III, a career Marine Corps officer, in May 1958. They lived in a variety of places over the next 30 years; one of their favorite duty stations was Bangkok, Thailand. It was there that Betsy fell in love with Southeast Asian art and culture. When Maury retired, they remained in Norfolk where Betsy was a docent at the Chrysler Museum of Art for more than 30 years. She was also an active member of the Hermitage Foundation Auxiliary.

She is predeceased by her husband of 57 years. She is survived by two children, Randolph Maury Browne IV and his wife Kimberly, and Kathryn Browne Pfeifer and her husband Robert, as well as four grandsons: Dr. Randolph Maury Browne, V and his wife Maria Fernanda; Mark Andrew Pfeifer and his wife Alexandra Nicole; Eric Charles Pfeifer; and Brian Edward Pfeifer.
