Peggy L. Anderson, 90, of Baytown, Texas born December 31, 1928 in Magnolia, Texas to Nolan James and Emma Christine Campbell, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2019.

Mrs. Anderson (or “Nannie Peggy”) grew up in a house built by her own family in the 1890s. The house was complete with a dog trot, a deep water well and an outhouse. She was the valedictorian of Groveton High School when she graduated in 1946.

Peggy Loraine Campbell married Wilmer B Anderson, owner of Trinity Leather Shop, on September 27, 1947 in Trinity, Texas. They moved to Baytown in 1955 and founded Anderson Shoe & Saddle.

Mrs. Anderson was an active servant of the Baytown Community as a President of Alamo Elementary PTA. In fact, she loved assisting Principal Kelly Martin in his first years at Alamo. She was involved in Pilot Club, Baytown Youth Fair and was the founder of the Baytown Youth Fair Prince and Princess pageant.

Nannie Peggy’s home was always open to family, friends and animals for celebrations and Sunday dinners. Sundays at the bay were a tradition for many. When asked, family contributed words that reminded us of Nannie Peggy. Some of these things may be familiar to you.

Homemade Bread, Smell of leather, Sundays, Little Things, Glass bottles, Cuckoo Clocks and Watches, Dachshunds, Tree Houses and Bird Houses, Needlework, Angels, Salty Air, Amazing Grace, Teddy Bears, Cabbage Patch Dolls, Care Bears, Puzzles and Games, Hair Spray, Porch Swings, Chips and Dip, Old School House, Goats, Weddings, Tennessee Waltz, Dulcimer, Organs, Keyboards, That Alligator Story, Fishing and the Pier, Bowling, Birthday Parties, Toy Store Trips to Woolco, TV Guides, Beans and Cornbread, Sweet Tea, and Family Reunions.

Her hobbies were counted cross stitch and puzzles.

Mrs. Anderson is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Wilmer. She is survived by her three daughters and their husbands, Linda and Chuck Putman, Kathy and Garry Nelson, Beth Ann and Bernard Murphy, her grandchildren and their spouses, Greg and Jackie Bridwell, Sally McDermand, Amy and Kevin Tierney, Michael Bridwell, Shelley Nelson, Patrick and Judy Nelson, her great grandchildren, Keaton Bridwell, Cody McDermand, Anderson Bridwell, Colton McDermand, Scott Bridwell, James Lyzniak, Daniel Lyzniak, Lillian Bridwell, Suzie Tierney, Edward Tierney, Noah Nelson and Naomi Nelson (just born May 9th), her nieces and nephews Jeff and Tammy Campbell and Lisa and John Clayton.

Mrs. Anderson’s family would like to express their deep appreciation for the kindness and care of the staff at RollingBrook Rehabilitation Center and the doctors and staff at Houston Methodist Baytown especially ICU nurses and doctors and Compassus Hospice.

Her family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Wednesday, May 15, 2019 from 10:00 – 11:00am for visitation followed by services from 11:00 – 12:00pm with Mark Stafford and Tommy Clements officiating. Graveside services will follow at Glendale Cemetery in Trinity County with Rev. Barbara Campbell officiating.
