Military graveside services for Ronald David Beard, 70, of Coushatta, LA will be held at 10 A.M. Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at Ajax Cemetery with Shawn Beard officiating. Mr. Beard was born March 12, 1949 in Pleasant Hill, LA and passed away May 11, 2019.

Military graveside services for Ronald David Beard, 70, of Coushatta, LA will be held at 10 A.M. Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at Ajax Cemetery with Shawn Beard officiating. Funeral services under the direction of Rockett-Nettles Funeral Home.

Mr. Beard was born March 12, 1949 in Pleasant Hill, LA and passed away May 11, 2019. Mr. Beard was a 1967 graduate of Pelican High School. After graduation, he enlisted on June 2, 1967 in the United States Air Force and retired on September 1, 1988 as a Senior Master Sergeant proudly serving in the Vietnam War. He had a love for fishing and gardening and enjoyed taking care of what God gave him. He touched many lives and was always willing to help others. "Poppa", as he was affectionately known, loved his family and will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rob and Estelle Beard; three brothers, Robert Allen, Kenneth Ray and Gary Nolan Beard; and brother-in-law, Daymon Rambin.

Mr. Beard is survived by one son, Shawn Beard and wife, Dovie of Coushatta, LA; three sisters, Bonnie Rambin of Tyler, TX, Linda Stevens and husband, Russell of Coushatta, LA and Dottie Bell and husband, Troy of Coushatta, LA; four grandchildren: David Beard and wife, Kaitlyn, Marcus Cox and wife, Amanda, Jeremy Neal and wife, Shasta, and Melissa Neal and fiance' Josh all of Coushatta, LA; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ricky Davis, Wayne Patterson, and Chris Layfield.

The family wishes to express a special thanks to Dr. Wyche Coleman, Brandon Hillman and the staff at Christus Coushatta Health Care Center for going above and beyond for their care of our "Poppa".
