He enlisted in the US Army in 2017 and served as an infantryman. He was promoted to the rank of Private First Class in December 2018. He died of wounds sustained from a non-combat incident in Kobani, near the Syrian-Turkish border, while supporting Operation Inherent Resolve, his first deployment. Among his military awards and decorations were the Army Commendation Medal (2, one "C" device for combat); National Defense Service Medal; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Army Service Ribbon; and Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal.

He was survived by his mother and father; three siblings; his son; and daughter.
