Aaron was the son of Major William Ellis and Amy Matlack.

He was Captain of the 1st Company of the 2nd Battalion of the 2nd Regiment of the Gloucester Brigade in the New Jersey Militia.

Birth and death dates were confirmed by Haddonfield Baptist Cemetery records.

Note: This person should not be confused with an Aaron Ellis who is buried in Mount Moriah Cemetery in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
