Raymond Clyde Simmons, 85, longtime resident of Moore Oklahoma, passed away May 5th, 2019. He was born November 23rd, 1933 to Joseph and Emma Simmons in Milburn, Oklahoma. Raymond was a member of Trinity Church of the Nazarene in Oklahoma City. Raymond Simmons married Donna Rhea on July 11th, 1953. He was a devoted husband and loving father of their three children: Tony, Rickey and Renae. Throughout his life Raymond enjoyed fishing, gardening, sports and spending time with family and friends. During the 1960’s, Raymond coached little league baseball. His teams experienced much success. In 1969, the “Moore Sluggers” won the Prep State Championship. Raymond was “born again” on October 13th, 1979 when he placed his trust in Jesus Christ and never looked back. He faithfully attended Shields Church of the Nazarene with his wife Donna where he served in many capacities. His love for the Bible led him to begin teaching Sunday School. A task he greatly enjoyed and continued for the next twenty years. Raymond is survived by his sons, Tony Simmons and wife Jae, Rickey Simmons and wife Jennifer; daughter, Renae Adams; grandchildren, Lori Bacon and husband Aaron, Kyle Simmons and wife Terri, Stacy Heskett and husband Reid, Gwendolyn Leatherwood and husband Jesse, Samuel Simmons, Jessica Simmons, Daniel Adams and wife Samantha, Jason Adams and Amber Adams; nine greatgrandchildren; brother-in-law, Charles W. Rhea, sisters-in-law, Kimie Simmons, Tommie Joe Wellmaker, Gwen Vowell and Valeta Sallee. He is preceded in death by his wife, Donna Simmons; parents, Joseph and Emma Simmons; brother, Joseph Simmons Jr.; and sister, Alta Simpson.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, May 10, 2019 at the chapel of John M. Ireland Funeral Home, Moore, OK. Interment to follow at Sunnylane Cemetery, Del City, OK. Services are under the direction of John M. Ireland Funeral Home and Chapel, Moore, OK.
