Joseph Napier was born on November 3, 1900 in Tennessee, the son of Joe Napier and Laura (Clark) Napier.

A hotel waiter living at 881 J C Napier Courts in Nashville, he was 50 years old, married and had asthma and heart problems. On July 31, 1951 he was waiting at home for a cab to take him to a hospital, and he fell over dead. Burial was on August 2nd in Greenwood Cemetery, Nashville.
