At an early age she professed her faith in Christ at the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, Cedar Hill, Tennessee. After relocating to Nashville, Tennessee she united with Capers Memorial CME Church in 1978. She had a strong dedication to God and her church. She was a former member of the Sanctuary Choir, former member of the Board of Ushers, 2015 Recipient of the “Most Dedicated” Award at Capers Memorial Church Anniversary and 2017 Recipient of the “Most Honorable” Award on the Southeast District, Christian Methodist Episcopal (CME) Church.
Betty enjoyed cooking, have fun with her grandchildren, attending family reunions and traveling. She was affectionately known as “Granny”, “Aunt Jane”, “Jane” and “My Diva” to family and friends.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, James Robert Malone; sisters, Sally Katherine Fykes and Mattie Erma Northington; brothers, Warren Darden and Jessie Darden.
She leaves to cherish her sweet memories, one daughter in law, Shelia Malone of Nashville, TN; one brother in law, Adolph Bennett, Jr., of Nashville, TN; four grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and nine great great-great grandchildren; devoted nieces, Amelia Northington and Geneva West of both Nashville, TN; devoted great niece, Beverly Bell of Nashville, TN; devoted church friends, Mildred Woodard, Dorothy Searcy, Polly Fitzpatrick, Myrtle Sherrell, Vera Merriweather and Lena Langster; devoted neighbors on Emerald Drive of Nashville, Tennessee; and a host of other relatives and friends.
