A native of Spartanburg County; son of Claude T. "Tony" Hammett (1915-1995) and Nora Mae Pangle Hammett (1922-2006).
A member of Park Hills First Church of God and was a former student of The Charles Lea Center.
Other survivors include sisters, Jo Ann Graves and Rosemary Hammett Harris (1941-2010).
Visitation was held from 7:00 - 9:00 pm, Friday, April 10, 1992, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel.
Services were held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, April 11, 1992, at the funeral chapel by Rev. Chris Wyatt; burial in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
