Mr. Grover C. Hill, age 89, of Valley, AL passed away on Tuesday, April 30th, 2019 at his residence. He was born on July 4th, 1929 in Opelika, AL.
Mr. Hill is survived by his five daughters, Brenda Wilson, Darlene Pollard, Kim Talley, Deidre Hamilton, and Jennifer Hamilton; his thirteen grandchildren, Colby Hill, Corey (Mollie) Hill, Cherry Hood, Chris Wilson, Shana Tate, Naomi Miller, Melinda Trussell, Brandon Hamilton, Adam Hamilton, Nicholas Talley, April Peterson, Daniel Peterson, and Christy Coggin; his brother, Richard Hill; eighteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Hill; his son, James Michael “Mike” Hill; three siblings, William Thomas Hill, Jimmie Dean Matthews, and Betty Ann Hill Anglin.
Mr. Hill had been a member of Fairview Baptist Church for the last seventeen to eighteen years. He served two years in the United States Marine Corps. and twenty-six years in the National Guard. He retired from West Point Pepperell after 40+ years of service. He enjoyed helping others and volunteering, fishing, going to auctions, and gardening.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 3rd, 2019 at 4:00 PM (EST) at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley. Interment will follow in Fairfax Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM (EST) at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.
