Vanessa Paula Pierce, age 26, of Yorkville, IL passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, IL.

She was born on May 16, 1991 in Elmhurst, IL the daughter of Paul and Vincenza (Scardina) Pierce. Vanessa was a 2009 graduate of Yorkville High School in Yorkville, IL. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration Cum Laude from Aurora University in Aurora, IL. Vanessa was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Yorkville, IL. She loved her family so much and she embraced her Italian heritage, especially the food and the fine wine. She loved everything Disney, especially the songs. She could recite line by line every Disney movie and song. Vanessa enjoyed spending time with her family and enjoyed the many road trips and vacations they took together. She was always ready to help a friend in need. She worked as a teacher at La Petite Academy, where she cared, taught and loved several children. She was also a full time nanny to many families over the years, of whom she embraced as her own. Vanessa was a loving daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, and cousin who will be deeply missed by her family and many friends.

She is survived by her parents, Paul and Vincenza Pierce; her sister, Jessica (Tom) St. Jules of Yorkville, IL; her brother, Marco Pierce of Yorkville, IL; her maternal grandparents, Alberto and Paola Scardina of North Aurora, IL; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents and her Godparents.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 406 Walnut St., Yorkville, IL with Father Matthew Lamoureux M.I.C. officiating. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery in Bristol, IL. Friends may visit from 3:00 until 8:00 PM on Friday, September 15, 2017 at the Nelson Funeral Home, 1617 N. Bridge St., Yorkville, IL.
