Mr. Ralph Luther Patterson, 91, of Sylvania entered his heavenly home on Wednesday, May 1, 2019. Mr. Patterson was born on November 27, 1927, and is preceded in death by his parents, Oz and Ludie Patterson. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and a friend to all who knew him. He served God faithfully as a member of Chavies Baptist Church. A farmer his entire life, Mr. Patterson loved the land and all of God’s creation. He was a former member of the United States Air Force during the Korean War.
Mr Patterson is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Ruth Tilley Patterson, and his daughters Aletha (Steve) Bowen of Fort Payne, and Laura (Eddie) Houk of Huntsville. He dearly loved his grandchildren - Price (Jessica) Lawrence of Laceys Spring, Madison (Kayla) Bowen of Huntsville, and Landry Bowen of Fort Payne, Clay Houk, and Anna (Forrest) Ford, and his two great-granddaughters, Litton and Ann Collins Ford, all of Huntsville. Mr. Patterson had five brothers and two sisters, and is survived by one sister, Bernice (Neelis) Braud of Louisiana.
The Patterson family will receive friends Friday, May 3, 2019 from 11AM to 1PM, with services immediately following at Rainsville Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at the Mountain View Memory Gardens in Rainsville. The family suggests that memorial contributions be sent to Alabama Baptist Children’s Home, 1404 16th Ave SE, Decatur, AL 35601.
